Fostering public involvement and engagement is a key priority for the City of Grand Junction. Public participation in government processes is an essential way for the city to convey important information, open avenues of communication with stakeholders and promote a transparent, equitable form of government.

Community Meetings

Community meetings serve a range of purposes, including neighborhood meetings, where staff provides residents with updates on City projects, to meetings on special topics, such as projects, plans, or the budget. In addition to providing information, staff use community meetings to seek input from community members. 

Upcoming Public Engagement Events

  • Horizon Park Master Plan. Public engagement events will be hosted throughout the fall and winter. More information can be found here
  • Hangin' with Herman. Join Councilmember Abe Herman at the Lunch Loop Trailhead on Tuesday, October 19th at 5 p.m. Bring your bike and enjoy the trails following the event!

Online Engagement

The City utilizes a variety of methods to engage with community members online, including social media and engagement platforms such as GJSpeaks. Community members are also always able to provide comments and feedback to City staff via email. 

Hybrid Public Hearings

The Grand Junction City Council holds public hearings in a hybrid setting, allowing community members to participate virtually or in person at City Hall. More information on how to participate in hybrid virtual meetings can be found here


Participate in the City of Grand Junction government online at Grand Junction Speaks. City of Grand Junction's Planning Commission public hearings are available at where community members can review the materials for issues at upcoming meetings, leave public comments that are reviewed by planning commissioners, and join the meeting remotely and provide input during the meeting.

4th and 5th Street Feasibility Study

The purpose of the feasibility study is to evaluate potential improvements along both 4th and 5th Street. Proposed alternatives will include maintaining the one-way traffic operations as well as the potential of transitioning to two-way corridors.
