Grand Junction, Colo. — At 12:06 a.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on the 1200 block of Bunting Avenue. The home's occupants were awakened by a smoke alarm and discovered a fire inside the residence. They safely evacuated and called 9-1-1.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire throughout the structure, including the basement. Crews began an aggressive attack to contain and extinguish the flames. As a precaution, the Grand Junction Police Department temporarily evacuated nearby homes.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported, four adults were displaced by the fire. The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation.
The Grand Junction Police Department assisted with scene safety, and GJPD Victim Advocates were dispatched to provide support to the displaced residents.
