GJPD & Bomb Squad Respond to Domestic Dispute

On June 12, 2025, at approximately 7:40 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a fight in the 2000 block of N 21st Street. Dispatchers with the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center received information that a male and female were involved in a physical altercation at a residence.

Upon arrival and initial investigation, officers determined the incident was a domestic dispute that had escalated into a physical altercation. The male suspect was safely taken into custody.

During the course of the investigation, officers learned the male had a history of constructing and detonating homemade improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in remote desert areas. Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence, and the Grand Junction Bomb Squad was called to assist. Bomb technicians located a homemade IED inside the home and safely removed it.

The suspect, 26-year-old Dominic Roberts, was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. He was booked on the following charges:

  • Second Degree Assault
  • Harassment
  • Domestic Violence
  • Possession, Use, or Removal of Explosives Devices
  • Failure or Refusal to Leave Premises or Property with a Weapon

The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public. This case remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
