"We Can't Do What We Do Without Them."

We are so pleased to share that Governor Polis has formally recognized November 9th – 13th, 2020, as Law Enforcement Records Personnel Week in Colorado. This week serves to acknowledge the dedicated law enforcement records personnel that serve the citizens of their communities and provide support for patrol officers and beyond.

The Grand Junction Police Department Records & Data Management Unit is comprised of eight subject matter experts in the areas of data configuration, state statistical reporting requirements, legislative impacts of new bills, open records certification, and customer service. Most of our unit has earned Master Certification through the Colorado Certified Records Network (CCRN), while others are currently working towards their certification. You can find our team working diligently, maintaining data records and sharing pertinent case information with the District Attorney’s Office, Mesa County Valley School District 51, Mesa County Department of Human Services and many more.

“While our uniformed personnel tend to be the face of the police department, the reality is that we could not do what we do without our Records staff being there for us, day in and day out,” says Deputy Chief Mike Nordine. “This recognition is very important and well-deserved.”

In 2019, our Records staff maintained tens of thousands of criminal justice records in our data base, as well as responding to over 4,000 open records requests for criminal justice information. They truly are the backbone of our agency, and we are grateful for their hard work and dedication.
