The inaugural Wild West Skate Fest, originally scheduled for Sept. 13, was postponed by one day due to weather. Despite the delay, turnout remained strong. The event featured vendors, food trucks, live music, mural painting, and multiple skateboarding competitions. Participants competed on the street course at beginner, intermediate, and advanced/pro levels.
A total of 66 skaters took part, representing the Grand Valley along with communities including Pagosa Springs, Montrose, Buena Vista, Arvada, Broomfield, Commerce City, and Telluride. With strong support from local businesses, more than $5,000 in cash and prizes were awarded. The event was made possible through a collaboration with the local Skateboarder Alliance and is expected to become an annual highlight for the skateboarding community.
