Grand Junction, CO - The Grand Junction Police Department is investigating potential sexual exploitation of a child.
On September 11, 2025, dispatchers with the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center received a report a possible meet up of an adult male and juvenile. Through investigation, officers learned the suspect had allegedly sent illicit text messages to an adult male posing as a juvenile and attempted to arrange a meet up.
Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant was written and granted for the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Shane Chatfield, for the following charges:
- Attempted Sexual Assault
- Sexual Exploitation of a Child
On September 16, 2025, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department arrested Chatfield without incident and transported him to the Mesa County Detention Facility where he was booked on the warrant.
