Investigations Division

GJPD Patrol Vehicle surrounded by yellow "DO NOT CROSS" tapeThe Grand Junction Police Department Investigations Bureau is comprised of one commander, two sergeants, ten detectives, an intel officer, and one marijuana compliance officer who started their law enforcement careers in Patrol and were then assigned to Investigations based upon their knowledge, experience, and investigative ability. This unit also consists of one crime analyst and four civilian investigators who perform a variety of priority tasks, such as follow-up on missing persons and runaways, registered sex offender management.

The Investigations Unit has two primary divisions, Crimes Against Persons and Crimes Against Property. When a call for service is generated through dispatch, a patrol officer is typically the first point of contact. Once an initial report is generated, all cases involving potential felony charges are reviewed by the Investigations sergeants and then assigned to a detective for follow-up.
