Water Conservation Programs

Waterwise Lawn Program

This is also known as a lawn conversion or replacement, which removes grass lawns that require high amounts of water while maintaining existing trees to create a beautiful, water-wise landscape that fits the local climate, making it a Grandscape.

Smart Watering Program

The City has introduced an irrigation review for residential properties as part of our Smart Watering Program. This review helps determine the efficiency of the irrigation system, provides recommendations, and creates a monthly water budget that can easily reduce water use by 25% or more.

Water Efficiency Rebates

City of Grand Junction water customers can get money back on water-saving items, including toilets, washing machines, smart irrigation controllers, soil moisture sensors, rain sensors, high-efficiency rotor nozzles, and tree drip irrigation kits. Some of these rebates partner well with other city water efficiency programs like the Waterwise Landscape Program and the Gray Water Program. Year-End Rebates are now available! Save on your water bill by reducing your usage!

Graywater Program

The City received a grant from the Colorado Water Conservation Board to support Graywater use in Grand Junction. This grant will include rebates for Laundry to Landscape parts for single-family residential properties, irrigation systems, and indoor toilet flushing.

Garden in a Box

Resource Central, a Colorado-based nonprofit committed to water conservation, has been leading the Garden In A Box initiative for over 20 years. This program has successfully transformed high-water lawns into stunning, drought-resistant gardens, and now it's expanding to the Western Slope for the first time. By participating, residents can enhance their landscapes while reducing water usage and saving on their utility bills.
