Grand Junction Parks and Recreation not only offers exciting recreational programs and activities for all ages and abilities, but also puts on numerous Special Events during the course of the year for the public to participate in and enjoy!
This festival has many activities to celebrate spring, Arbor Day and Earth Day. With local live music playing you can peruse vendor and non-profit booths, help green up Grand Junction with a free tree seedling or buy a larger tree at the auction, tour all the tastes of local brewers, and fill your tummy with yummy eats from hometown food trucks. This year we will be recycling tires, oil, and antifreeze.
Get ready for the summer at Lincoln Park-Moyer Pool for our annual School's Out Party!
Join us for a family-friendly and fun theatre performance in the park by The Theatre Project! Snacks will be available for purchase, and we ask attendees to please bring a low-back chair or blanket. The performance is held at Sherwood Park.
Participate in hands-on activities and arts and crafts, learn about the many Arts and Culture Organizations in the area, and find out how you can get involved. Activities include live performances, giant games, arts and crafts, prize giveaways, food vendors, and more!
If your organization is interested in participating, please fill out an application no later than Thursday, June 5.
The Lincoln Park-Moyer Pool commemorates our nation's birthday by offering special entry fees. In the evening, grab your blanket and picnic basket and claim a spot at Lincoln Park to enjoy the fantastic fireworks display that starts at 9:45 p.m.

The Western Colorado Senior Games is for anyone 50 years and better. Compete in events including track and field, swimming, pickleball, billiards, golf chip/putt, 5K walk/run, bowling, cards, bocce ball, basketball, table tennis, and more!
The temps are high, and the days are long. Our four-legged friends are ready for their day in the sun! The whole of Lincoln Park-Moyer Pool goes to the dogs for paddling, soaking, fetching, and diving board leaps, please remember, the pool is open for canines ONLY-Mesa County Public Health prohibits humans from swimming during this event. Event proceeds benefit the Billy Crawford Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Celebrate skateboarding in Western Colorado, at the first annual Wild West Skate Fest. Skateboarders, families, neighbors, and businesses gather to celebrate our local skateboarding culture. Cheer on skaters of all levels in friendly competitions, enjoy live music, watch live mural artwork by a special out of town artist, savor local eats and shop from community vendors. Whether you're a seasoned rider, just learning, or simply coming to support, if you have a love for skateboarding on any level, there's something for you at the Wild West Skate Fest. Come connect, celebrate, and roll together — skateboarding is more than a sport, it’s a community. Prizes will be awarded in all divisions. Deadline to pre-register is 5pm, September 11. Registrations after this date will be taken Saturday, September 13, 11am - 12pm at the event.
Envision hundreds of glowing water lanterns gently bobbing on the Las Colonias Butterfly Pond after sunset. Each one beautifully decorated with words of hope, memories, or dreams and wishes. Music and aromas from local food trucks fill the air while families and friends decorate their lanterns. In what is sure to be an awe-inspiring sight, the lanterns will be launched all at once!
You will have a howling good time running in our annual Trick, Track, Treat! This meet at Lincoln Park is designed for track stars of all ages and abilities, from diaper dashers to one-mile thrashers! Pick your top three events for $5 and add additional events for $1 each. Costumes are encouraged!
Kick off the holidays at the 24th Annual Candy Cane Hunt with crafts, cookies, and cocoa. Doors open at 10 a.m. for crafts, snacks, and entertainment. The "Candy Cane Hunt" will begin exactly at 11 a.m. Candy Cane Hunt will start at the Lincoln Park Barn.
First, enjoy hot chocolate, holiday goodies, and live, festive entertainment inside the Lincoln Park Barn. Then, hop aboard a school bus (there are three steps to enter/exit the bus) and get ready to enjoy the beautiful light displays around the city with your fellow light-lookers. Experience downtown Grand Junction's happy holiday charm during this delightful, guided walking tour of beautiful Main Street. Choose between an enlightening Art on the Corner Tour or an informative History Tour. The first 100 participants to register receive a commemorative mug filled with Enstrom's hot chocolate to enjoy on their walk! Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Parks and Recreation is teaming with Kiwanis for the 9th annual Santa Cause Run, an event that aims to help fund inclusive playground equipment. With projects already completed, such as the wheelchair-accessible swing at Canyon View Park, proceeds from this event will allow us to further provide inclusive accommodations for our community. Join us for a 5k that is in the spirit of the season!
