Records and Data Management

The Records and Data Management Unit is staffed by eight full-time employees who are the keepers of all criminal justice records maintained by the agency. They are responsible for the processing, maintaining, archiving, retrieving, and releasing of information and copies of reports in accordance with federal and state regulations. Each employee is master certified by the Colorado Certified Records Network and attends twelve hours of training on Colorado Open Records Law each year. In addition, the division provides customer service and support to citizens, department members, and other law enforcement agencies.

For all open records requests, including police reports, accident reports, Body Worn Cameras, and 911 audio, please complete this request form.  Requests may also be made in person at the Police Department at 555 Ute Avenue.

The Records and Data Management Unit is responsible for data records and case management of approximately 20,000 case reports each year. That includes:

  • Bicycle registrations
  • Business licenses
  • Non-criminal activity
  • Registered sex offender files
  • Supplemental investigations
  • Traffic accident and traffic citations
